NEW MEXICO JOINS THE NASCAR WEEKLY RACING SERIES WITH THE ADDITION OF SANDIA MOTORSPORTS PARK

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 11, 1999) - The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, the premier weekly racing series in the nation has now added it's 37th state, with the addition of Sandia Motorsports Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Sandia Motorsports Park is a three track complex featuring a .400-mile semi-banked asphalt oval, a 1.65 mile road course and .250-mile inner oval. The Modifieds will compete as the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series feature division while the Super Stocks will race in the Exide ShorTrack Series by NASCAR each Saturday night.
"Sandia Motorsports Park will be an excellent addition to the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series," stated Tom Deery, NASCAR vice president, Weekly Racing Series. "This great new facility and the Albuquerque market are a prime location for a NASCAR sanctioned facility. We are thrilled about their presence in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series."
Sandia Motorsports Park has been under construction throughout the 1999 season and is scheduled to open shortly after the year 2000 celebration. The track will be under the guidance of Sandia Motorsports Park founder, Chuck Jackson.
"We are thrilled about joining the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series," said Jackson. "We feel that the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series program will enhance our program considerably. The NASCAR sanction brings so much to any facility, but we feel that the entire Albuquerque community will benefit from NASCAR's involvement with our facility."
The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series is the premier short track racing series in the country. Thousands of short track racers compete every weekend from May to September, at nearly 100 selected short tracks, both dirt and asphalt, reaching 37 states throughout the nation. Those short tracks are divided into 10 geographic regions, with the Series providing competitors with local, regional, and national recognition and a $1.423 million point fund.
